candy twins

When I made these, I thought they look so much like Japanese boys! You know, with the kimono (the three beads for sleeves and the bottom half of their wear), and the black hats (albeit much taller) they wear in the Heian era. It just reminded me of the men in the e-maki of my Genji no Monogatari books.

But a friend took one look and said "Ooh, candies!"

  1. They look more like shovels. The black bit is the handle, the yellow bit is the (admittedly short) shaft, and then the three white/red bits form blade. Maybe one of those tiny shovels you see kids with at the beach?
